Social Ministry

In thankful response to God's love and grace, the St. James community strives through Social Ministry to care for our neighbors and the earth, to promote social justice, and to share Christ's love through the seven practices of discipleship.

Things ongoing now are:

  • Item of the Month - collection of items needed by various community agencies.

  • Quilt Ministry - sewing and tying quilts for those in need and for our own newborns who are baptized; sewing and stuffing small animals for needy children; sewing Christmas stockings for newborns at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

  • Videotape Ministry - Videotapes of worship services and other church activities for our shut-ins.

  • Collection of Food  - for St. James emergency food pantry and for agencies such as Fayetteville Urban Ministry, the Homeless Coalition Day Center and the City Rescue Mission.

  • Greeting Card Ministry - sending greeting cards to our military men and women who have been deployed and sending greeting cards to all St. James shut-ins, ill and families of deceased.

  • Recycling Ministry - newspapers, office paper, eyeglasses, cell phones, aluminum cans, telephone books, inkjet cartridges.

Social Ministry meets the first Thursday of each Month at 7:30 pm.
