Pastor Louise Hilbert came to St. James in
June 1999 after serving congregations in Durham, NC and West
Columbia, SC. She is a graduate of
Florida State University with a
B.S. in Social Welfare. After graduation from Florida State she
worked as a school social worker in the
Duval County School System
Title 1 programs. For ten years Pastor Louise stayed home with her
children and then returned to work as a Parish Worker in Education
and Family Ministry in Jacksonville, Florida. When she answered
God’s call to ordained ministry, she began studies at
Lutheran
Theological Southern Seminary and received a Master of Divinity
degree there in 1989.
Pastor Louise currently serves as chair of the
Candidacy Committee
of the North Carolina Synod and as a supervisor for interns from
Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC. She finds
great joy in helping shape and prepare pastors to serve the Church.
When not involved in leading and sharing the many ministries at St.
James, she loves to work in the yard, take walks, read mysteries,
and cook.
Pastor Louise and her husband Larry are the parents of three adult
children.
